Multicultural Festival Ends In Violence

The People's Park festival in Halifax which is now held every year, ended in violence at the weekend. One police officer was injured, and two police cars were damaged in a fight that broke out after the festival. Fifty people were involved, and the violence lasted one hour. The Halifax evening courier gave no description of the people involved in the violence. A youth was arrested and charged with racially aggravated assault.

Community leaders helped calm the situation. The event is advertised as "capturing the atmosphere of the People's Park and the local surrounding community" - this year it certainly did that! The event is part of the local council's multicultural events. The festival is predominantly Asian, but it does contain a small number of leftists from areas outside of Halifax, such as Hebden Bridge.

The local surrounding community is Muslim Asian, this could explain why the ultra-left wing evening courier gave no description of the people involved in the disturbance. As usual the local media played down the violence. This is just one of many incidents where there is no description of the attackers, if they had been White, the courier would not be able to wait to print the details. Everybody knows that making Halifax multiracial has been a disaster for us all.

The People's Park was opened in 1857, the park was designed by Joseph Paxton. Although the park is Victorian, it has a very strong Latin influence in its appearance, it is said that the statues were imported from Italy. Some of the statues have now had their arms and legs broken off.

In the 1980s the park was a complete eyesore, several million pounds was pumped into the area in a council clean up scheme. The park has its gates locked at early evening, as the area is generally not safe, especially for White people.

As usual, Calderdale Council puts a disproportionate amount of money into the Asian community. The actual People's Park festival includes music and stalls. This year the so-called multicultural festival ended in violence, and an arrest for racism. The police could have made many more arrests, but as usual they are given the orders to go soft on ethnic minorities through fear of making the disturbances worse.
